A native of California, DOMINIC TERESI is principal bassoon of Tafelmusik Orchestra, Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra and Carmel Bach Festival, teaches in The Juilliard School’s Historical Performance Department, and is a member of Quicksilver, Juilliard Baroque and Symphonie des Dragons. He has also enjoyed playing with Le Concert d’Astrée, Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique, Philharmonia Baroque, American Bach Soloists, Arion, Ensemble Caprice, Toronto Consort and Apollo’s Fire. In demand on dulcian, baroque, classical and modern bassoon, his playing has been described as “stellar” (New York Times), “reminding us of the expressive powers of the bassoon” (The Globe and Mail), “breath-stopping…managing to plumb every technical trick while also shaping the music with great skill” (Toronto Star) and “particularly elegant” (The Boston Musical Intelligenser). Mr. Teresi was invited to be a featured artist on CBC Radio’s Music Around Us, where he performed a nationally broadcast radio concert of bassoon concertos and sonatas, and has appeared as a concerto soloist throughout Europe, North America and Australia. He holds a masters degree and artist diploma from Yale University and a doctorate from Indiana University.
